This client had a difficult north facing slope surrounded by mature trees and was looking for a planting scheme to soften the area and create a welcoming feel for visitors to the property from it's parking area.

A mix of shade tolerant shrubs and herbaceous plants were chosen which would spread and fill the space over time without becoming overgrown and difficult to manage.  The colour palate used shades of pink, purple, white and blue to create a gentle elegant scheme.

This client has a narrow, sloped, new build garden and wanted a low maintenance site with a herb bed, summer house and room to entertain friends and family.

I suggested creating a series of terraces using stone gabion cages to link an existing patio at the bottom of the garden with space for a sun lit summer house at the top of the garden.  The cages are to be finished with wooden bench seating to provide ample space for visitors.  Railway sleeper steps and low maintenance planting break up the space and provide year round interest in a series of intimate garden 'rooms' making the long plot seem cosy and welcoming.
